Are you using a Digital Business Card

Are Paper business cards a thing of the past?

Over the last year or so – we have changed the way we connect with each other in a big way.  We are working remotely, networking online and attending regular virtual events. So we need a way to exchange contact information in the most seamless way possible. The  act of exchanging business cards  (and placing it in your wallet, never to be seen again) is quickly becoming antiquated

A digital business card – can also be called a virtual business card and is an online means of sharing contact information. Digital business cards can be created on mobile phones (Apple or Android) or on computers. They are more affordable than printing out paper cards (sometimes even free). Electronic or Digital business cards can be customized to your requirements, designed, and shared with anyone irrespective of whether they are using a Digital Business Card App.  You can add as much or as little information to your card as you’d like. In addition to your normal contact information you can add photos or videos and a whole lot more. They work off a QR Code which can be scanned or emailed. Most Digital Card Apps will send out a .VCR file which can be imported into your normal Contacts Application.

You can also maintain different cards for different purposes – business cards, personal cards and if you have a side hustle – you can have some cards for those too.

There are several digital business card apps out there, and you’ll need to find the one that works the best for you. I will have a separate video showing you how to use one of these apps.

‍Some main reasons why you may want to switch to digital cards

They are super convenient – you will never run out of cards as long as you have your phone handy.

They are easy to edit – if you change information – no need for getting new cards printed – just change you details on the card.

They are environmentally friendly  if everyone switched from paper to electronic cards, imagine how many trees we could save

They are very affordable in some cases – free!  HiHello is the app I am using which allows 4 free cards – or for unlimited cards only $3USD per month

With online meetings and virtual events becoming the new norm digital cards can be shared with anyone, anywhere — simply send the link over email, text, or social media. If you are attending online meeting you can hold up your QR code to the screen, and participants can scan your code and will get instant access to your card. Even at in person gatherings, a digital business card is only a tap away!
